The Texas Senate last night joined the state House in approving new abortion clinic requirements in Texas. With both chambers having approved the bill, it will become law since Governor Perry has vowed to sign it. It was for this purpose the Legislature was called back into another Special Session, after efforts to approve the bill failed in the prior session when time ran out.
Democrats have vowed to challenge the bill in court. The new law prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, and toughen standards for abortion clinics.
