Barry Curtis is a proud husband father and business leader in the community born at the tail end of the baby boomer generation his values and live experiences are firmly planted in the conservative sphere.
Born in Missouri, Barry has always had that “show me” and “can do spirit”. Growing up the youngestof four siblings gave Barry a great appreciation for family. Barry is the son of a 22 year army veteran that had 3 tours of service in Vietnam. Barry’s father won two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and many other courageous honors. His father and mother helped integrate movie theaters in rural south eastern Oklahoma. Barry’s young adult live was spent traveling the world as an Army brat but always returning to rural Oklahoma.
In 1982 Barry created the first “Young Republicans” in South Eastern Oklahoma. Challenging the powerful democratic held strong holds in that area, including the formable democratic speaker of the house Carl albert. Barry was the first black member of the College Republicans at the University of Oklahoma (OU) in Norman, where he worked tirelessly for Ronald Reagans re-election.
Barry served in the student body politics there serving in several different posts. He eventually ran for City Council in Norman Oklahoma. Texas continued to call on Barry thought business and conservative grass roots activism channels and Barry and his business partner ultimately created a north Dallas business in 1995 that now generates millions in revenue.
Barry describes himself as a Ronald Reagan conservative, he believes in limited government, low taxation, and a strong military Barry has been a powerful activist at the state and local levels for conservative causes.
Barry Curtis believes GOD is the cornerstone of the republic; the taking of the unborn is murder and is destructive to the family. He believes that character is the single most import attribute of a leader, that families are the building blocks of our society, and that entrepreneurs are the life blood of the economy and that they deserve to keep every penny that they risked and earned.
Barry believes that political correctness is the liberal’s version of fascism. Drug legalization will cripple America, GUNS ARE GOOD, illegal immigration is dangerous to the country and that most of all Barry believes that America is the best country in the world.
Barry, thru his strong conservative belief system started the conservative organization “THE CURTIS INITIATIVE”.
The Curtis initiative is a grass roots community organization that defends the uniquely American principles of family, faith and freedom. The organization highlights the American exceptionalismthat has made this country great. Thru radio broadcasts, books, speaker series, scholarships and the Curtis initiative keeps the conservative ideology and dialogue going in the community.
The Curtis Initiative is a politically conservative think tank which promotes family, faith, and freedom.
We do this by uplifting faith based institutions in the community, promoting the American entrepreneurial spirit, and aiding with privately funded scholarships.
The Curtis Initiative stands behind the core belief of American Exceptionalismby promoting and supporting the cornerstones of the American Experience; Freedom of expression, freedom of religion, a staunch defense of the second amendment, Support of the Pro-Life belief, protection of the sanctity of marriage, and preservation of vital parts of the environment.
