III. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Brief Description of Activity

Internship Program

During this reporting period, our SEU hosted twenty (21) student interns from: American Broadcasting School (1), Henderson State University (1), Saint Francis College (1), Southern Methodist University (1), Texas Tech University (1), University of North Texas (13), University of Texas/Arlington (1), University of Texas/Austin (1), William Jewel College (1). These interns assisted the Programming and Promotion Departments and “shadowed” Department managers to learn about the operations and responsibilities of each department. The student interns also worked closely with SEU producers and provided the support necessary to help them create a variety of radio shows.

Participate in event/program sponsored by an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

On April 30, 2016, our Chuck Cooperstein & Jacques Taylor KESN-FM On-Air Talent was invited to Broadcast Sports Symposium sponsored by American Broadcasting School. The panel discussed all aspects of sports world in broadcasting. The event was attended by 50 persons.

Provide training to management-level personnel concerning methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination

On June 14, 2016, this SEU participated in a training seminar for management-level personnel designed to ensure equal employment opportunity and prevent employment discrimination in the workplace. The seminar was conducted by Cumulus’ Senior Vice President and General Counsel. The SEU’s VP/Market Manager, Sales Managers, Promotion Directors, Programming Directors, and Business Manager were active attendees in that seminar.

On September 28, 2016, our SEU hosted the “Putting Texans Back to Work” job fair at the Allen Event Center that included 39 potential employers and was attended by approximately 1,500 job seekers. Our SEU secured the exhibit space, solicited local employers and organized all logistical aspects of the event as well as participating as an exhibitor. Our Business Manager, General Sales Managers, Program Directors and Assistant Business Manager manned the Cumulus booth and spoke to interested attendees about careers opportunities in broadcasting and job openings and internships within the SEU. This event was promoted on one or more SEU stations.

Participate in Job Fair

On January 26, 2017, our SEU participated in the Sports Industry Career Fair hosted by the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Our Assistant Business Manager and Business Manager attended this event and provided information to interested attendees about career opportunities in broadcasting and job openings within the SEU.

Participate in event/program sponsored by an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

On March 3, 2017, our SEU participated in the Alliance for Women in Media-Dallas/Fort Worth Student Media Tour. A group of thirty (45) students toured our facilities during which our Market Manager, General Sales Manager, Program Director, & Promotion Director provided information about the industry, advertising, marketing, operations and career opportunities in radio.
