WASHINGTON D.C. (WBAP/KLIF News) – Former North Texas Congressman Pete Sessions bid to get back into Congress is off to a rough start.

A federal indictment appears to link him to an alleged campaign finance scheme involving President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Guiliani and two of his associates who have already been charged.

Guiliani, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman are accused of trying to help launch a corruption investigation into Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine.

The Associated Press reports Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman alleged attempt to oust Ambassador Marie Yavonovitch was aided by laundered foreign money.

They report prosecutors said Guiliani’s fixers campaigned for her removal on Capital Hill and met with an “unnamed congressman” who was promised $20,000 in campaign donations.”

Sessions has confirmed he was subpoenaed by a grand jury for documents related to the investigation and said that he’s fully cooperating with investigators.

He’s denied any wrongdoing.

Sessions announced an attempted comeback about two weeks ago in his hometown of Waco, where he’ll run for a seat being vacated by Republican Representative Bill Flores.
