TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – Federal investigators say a cargo plane that crashed in Ohio and killed two Texas pilots clipped several trees as it was attempting to land.
The National Transportation Safety Board says in a preliminary report released Friday that no problems were reported during the flight.
The plane went down on Sept. 11 about a half-mile short of the runway at Toledo Express Airport.
Investigators say the last communication from the plane’s pilot came when he acknowledged the clearance to land.
It will be another year before the final cause is determined.
Authorities identified the two men who died as 72-year-old Douglas Taylor and 69-year-old Donald Peterson Sr. Both were from Laredo, Texas.
They were transporting auto parts when the plane crashed, hitting empty semitrailers at an auto repair lot.
