Texas Matches Record Low Unemployment Numbers

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF)- The Texas Workforce Commission reports the state unemployment rate for August was 3.4 percent. This matches the Texas all-time low for unemployment since the state started keeping job records. Eighteen thousand, two hundred new jobs were added. The biggest gains were in the Education and Health Care sectors. Dallas actually performed slightly better than the state average, coming in at 3.3 percent unemployment. Christopher Slijk, an economist with the Dallas Federal Reserve, says it’s a sign of how tight labor markets are in Texas and a positive signal for continued job expansion in the state.
