Wiley Jury Returns Monday 9 am

MESQUITE – WBAP/KLIF –  The jury deciding the fate – for the second time – of a former Mesquite police officer has been instructed to return to court at Monday, 9 am.

Former officer Derick Wiley faces aggravated assault charges for shooting an unarmed man he says he believed was stealing a vehicle, which was in fact the victim’s vehicle.    Lyndo Jones was shot twice, with Wiley claiming he feared for his life.  Friday, a former detective and forensic criminologist analyzed Wiley’s body cam video for the defense, saying his actions appeared consistent with training.

Wiley could face up to 99 years in prison.  Jones has a civil lawsuit pending against the City of Mesquite and Wiley.
