Salvation Army Offers a Place for North Texans to Cool Down from the Summer Heat

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Salvation Army’s summer heat relief program officially launched this week, as heat indexes in surpass 100 degrees.

The Salvation Army is activating 13 Cooling Stations across the DFW Metroplex to provide relief for the homeless, people without air conditioning, and those whose jobs require them to work outside.

According to the Salvation Army, the stations are meant to provide a cool environment and hydration. Cold water will be available each day throughout the summer. Increasing the amount of time spent in air-conditioned environments helps the body cool off and lessens the likelihood of getting overheated. The Salvation Army’s Cooling Stations provide a cool environment where people can cool off for a brief time or stay all day.

The Salvation Army’s two emergency homeless shelters in Dallas and Fort Worth will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and are located at:
