HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – Houston-based Pita Pal has issued a voluntary recall of almost 90 different types of hummus products due to concerns over Listeria.

The products were made between May 30th, 2019 and June 25, 2019.

Some of the brands affected include Bucee’s brand hummus as well as 7-Select, Lantana and Fresh Thyme.

The listeria organism was found at the manufacturing facility and not in the finished products during an FDA inspection.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal symptoms in chidlren, elderly or people with compromised immune systems.

Short-term symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The FDA said no illnesses have been reported so far. The products have been distributed to nationwide and to United Arab Emirates.
