Grand Prairie, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – News about the mysterious deaths of Americans in the Dominican Republic continues, and a Grand Prairie family says one of their relatives is among them.

Gary Rogers told WFAA-TV that his brother, Mark Hurlbut died last June while vacationing in Punta Cana last year.

“Seems like it was just yesterday, I was getting a phone call from my niece. There weren’t alot of answers… we still don’t have alot of answers yet I don’t think.”

Dominican authorities ruled Hurlbut’s death a heart attack, but the family said he never had any heart issues. He was 62.

The U.S. State Department says at least nine Americans have died in the Caribbean nation in the past 12 months; Hurlbut is not on their list. The family is still seeking more answers.

Dominican officials say the deaths are ‘isolated incidents.’
