Dallas Restaurant To Hold Fundraiser For Displaced Apartment Residents After Crane Collapse

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – More than 500 residents of the Elan City Lights apartment complex in Downtown Dallas have been displaced following the crane collapse on Sunday during violent storms that also claimed the life of a resident. Now, Dallas restaurant Big Al’s Smokehouse will be holding an “Aid for Elan” fundraiser to help the victims of the collapse. On Tuesday, June 18th, patrons and attendees are urged to donate cash and gift cards at the restaurant’s location on Inwood Road from 4-7 PM. The restaurant will also donate 20-percent of Tuesday’s food sales to the displaced residents. Lauran Weiner of Big Al’s Smokehouse says the restaurant considers its patrons ‘family’ and therefore feels it has to look after its family when they suffer disaster and hardship.
