Fort Worth Detectives Seek Answers From a Letter Connected to 1974 Cold Case Murder

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Fort Worth cold case detectives are looking for a person of interest in connection to 1974 murder.

Officer Ivan Gomez said Carla Walker was kidnapped when she was 17 years old outside a south Fort Worth parking lot.  Her body was found days later near Benbrook Lake but her killer still hasn’t been. As detectives opened back up the case, they found a letter in the file addressed to Fort Worth City Hall. it reads: “[Suspects name] killed Carla Walker. P.S. I’m sorry to say but it’s true.”

Gomez said sign 10100 is police code for “dead body”. “The goal is to bring peace and closure to Carla’s family…it’s been 45 long year,” Gomez said. The Department is asking for the author of this letter or anyone with more information to come forward. “Based on our times now with media and social media we thought let’s put that out there…maybe someone will recognize that they wrote it or recognize the handwriting,” Gomez said.
