City of Anna Working to Manage “Rapid Growth”

ANNA (WBAP/KLIF) –  Rapid growth in the City of Anna was the focus of the city’s inaugural ‘State of the City address’ by Mayor Nate Pike.
The hour-long presentation Tuesday consisted of nearly 30 slides which gave attendees a look at the City of Anna’s structure along with its short- and long-term plans and programs. The Mayor pointed out the meteoric rise in population and residential construction.

“We’re projecting growth at 7 percent a year, but it’s probably more like 10 percent.” said Mayor Pike. “We’re a community now of close to 14,000 people. In 2010 we had about 8,000 people.”

Closely tied to that growth, the Mayor focused on the various street, road and highway construction projects that have resulted from the growth.
Pike spoke about the current and upcoming economic development projects that the City has been working on. Among the impending commercial additions to the City were those locally concentrated in the US 75 and Hwy 455 intersection, the main entry into Anna. Businesses highlighted included several retail food and beverage concessionaires, a suite of medical offices and
a hotel from a major national chain.

The city plans to revitalize downtown, build a new business park on Anna’s north end, and complete a new City Hall complex.
