Former President Calling on Congress to Deliver Comprehensive Immigration Reform

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Former President George W. Bush is calling on Congress to deliver comprehensive immigration reform.

The 43rd President of the United States said Monday that he’s confident the U.S. will “have a fair and just immigration policy soon.”

In front of a crowd of nearly 50 newly naturalized U.S. citizens from 22 countries, at the Bush Institute in Dallas, the former President praised the nation’s immigrant history.

“So many of us can draw a line somewhere back to a man or woman who had the idea that life can be better,” said Bush. “And they came here to find it.”
Bush said lawmakers have a duty to regulate who comes in and when and that people seeking citizenship do so responsibly.
“I hope those responsible in Washington can dial down the rhetoric, put public’s aside and modernize our immigration laws soon,” Bush said.
The Former President told the newly naturalized citizens to participate in their democracy and to always vote.
