Courts: Former Dallas Officer Amber Guyger Trial Date Set for August

UPDATE: Dallas County court records show former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger has an August 12th trial date.

She’s charged with murder in the shooting death of Botham Jean at their apartment complex last year.

Guyger said she went into the wrong unit and thought Jean was an intruder.

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF)- An evidentiary hearing is set for today in a Dallas courtroom in the Amber Guyger case. The former Dallas police officer is charged with murder in the death of a neighbor last September.

The former Dallas police officer who fatally shot her neighbor after mistaking him for an intruder is due in court later today.

Amber Guyger says that she thought she was in her own Southside Flats apartment last September, when fired on Botham Jean in his apartment.

According to reports, the purpose of today’s hearing is to discuss the issue of Guyger’s police training and the long hours that she purportedly worked in the hours before the shooting to see if they played a factor in the incident.
