NASHVILLE (WBAP/KLIF News) — Two North Texas churches named by the Southern Baptist Convention president as possible harbors for sexual abuse have been cleared of organizational wrongdoing.

The SBC released a statement saying First Baptist Church in Bedford and Arapaho Baptist Church in Garland took active steps as congregations when “affected by the actions of a few individuals.”

However, Bolivar Baptist Church in Sanger was labeled as needing “further inquiry.”

A longtime pastor at Bolivar Baptist, Dickie Amyx, was once accused while at another church of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl back in 2006. The Denton Record Chronicle reported that he impregnated the girl when she was 18.

The SBC is investigating if the church still employs him and is looking the other way.
