Dallas City Council Holds Committee On Citizens Police Review Board

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Dallas City Council is talking about possible changes to the Citizens Police Review Board. A committee meeting was held on Monday to address new authority power the Board is requesting. The Board is asking for more authority in investigating cases of police misconduct, including officer-involved shootings. Currently, the Board can only make recommendations and has no power to subpoena officers. Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall believes the Board deserves more authority, saying members should be able to hold independent reviews separate from Dallas Police investigations. The city council will consider changes after today’s committee meeting.
