Salvation Army Red Kettle Stolen From Fort Worth Store

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The holiday season is underway and for many that means giving…for others…stealing.

The Salvation Army said it’s searching for one of its red kettles that was stolen from a Walmart store off of Eastchase Parkway and Anderson Boulevard in Fort Worth Tuesday afternoon.

The organization’s Lieutenant Timothy Israel said the suspect acted like he was going to into the store but instead grabbed the kettle and took off.

“This location on average generates between $300 to $500 a day but we wouldn’t know for sure until later on what that exact amount would have been,” he said.

This isn’t the first time someone has stolen one the organization’s famous red kettles and Israel said each time is a blow to the Salvation Army’s efforts to serve those in need.

“This does make a negative impact on our fundraising efforts so we’re really going to rely more on community support to make up the funds that were lost,” he said.

Police are looking at surveillance video to try and identify the suspect.
