Texas Rangers’ Adrian Beltre Retires

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – After more than two decades, Texas Ranger Adrian Beltre has decided to hang up his cleats.

In a statement released Tuesday morning, Beltre reflected on his accomplished career.

“I have enjoyed the privilege of playing professional baseball since I was 15 years old. I have been blessed to have played 21 seasons at the highest level in Major League Baseball,” he wrote.

Beltre, who came to the United States from the Dominican Republic, made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1998. He would eventually go on to play for the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox before joining the Texas Rangers.

After thanking his teammates, coaches, managers, agents and staff, Beltre acknowledged how important his family’s support was to him as well.

“I want to thank God, my amazing wife Sandra for your unwavering and unconditional love, support and understanding throughout my entire baseball career, my three awesome children, Cassie, A.J. and Camila for being the best baseball kids, my parents and my entire family for all your love and support,” he wrote.

Beltre wrote that it was time he became a “full-time” husband and father” and said he looks forward to the next chapter in his life.

When news of his retirement spread, people took to social media to highlight his career.
