Dallas Arts and Community Patron Caroline Rose Hunt Dies at Age 95

DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas philanthropist, arts and community patron Caroline Rose Hunt has died at the age of 95, following a stroke suffered October 31rst.   Hunt was the daughter of oil tycoon H.L. Hunt, and helped to create the “Uptown” area of Dallas with the building of the Crescent Hotel in the 1980’s.  The building in a somewhat blighted area changed the face of that area of Dallas, turning it into one of the premier areas to live, work and play.

Hunt was a champion of the Dallas Symphony, the Dallas Opera, and served nationally as well, on the Board of the J.F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in New York.   John Zogg with the Crescent Hotel says he met Hunt when he was 12 years old.  He describes her as a champion of arts groups large and small.  Zogg describes her as a driving force behind creation of Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, and she served with the American Red Cross, the Retina Foundation of the Southwest, and National Psoriasis Foundation.
