Amazon Makes Decision On New HQ

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF ) – The Seattle based on-line retailer has selected New York and Northern Virginia as the sites for it’s new headquarters following a lengthy selection process.

The search began in September 2017 and over 200 proposals came in from around the country as cities wanted to partner with Amazon. The company had said as many as fifty thousand employees would be added with the expansion.

The City of Dallas was reportedly a finalist for the second headquarters.

“I got a call [Tuesday] morning that said we had lost,” Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said.

Dallas city leaders said at a Tuesday press conference that they are disappointed with Amazon’s decision but that the process made the region stronger.

“We are leaps and bounds better as a city because we went through this,” said Mayor Rawlings. “Competition sharpens that knife.”

Rawlings said the city offered Amazon $600,000,000 in incentives.
