Dallas Police officer remains in critical condition

(WBAP/KLIF) – DALLAS, TX — Updated at 3:40pm 10/21/2018 – After a Dallas Police Officer was struck by a vehicle police say the officer’s conditions have improved, but still remains in critical condition at Methodist Hospital. The identity of the 2 year Veteran Dallas Police Officer has not yet been released.

This happened near I-20 and Mountain Creek Parkway around 6 a.m. when the officer was placing flares on the roadways after a possible hit & run and was struck by a Toyota Venza. A witness told police that the driver of the Toyota was approaching the accident scene when he drove around a police squad car that had its emergency lights on and then onto the emergency shoulder of the far right lane. The driver then went back onto the roadway and that’s when he struck the officer, who was standing in the far right lane, according to police.

The driver has only been identified as a 57-year-old man. Police say the driver did stay at the scene and now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
