West Central Texas Breathes Relief from Dangerous Flooding

(Kingsland, Texas – WBAP/KLIF) – The LLano River in West Central Texas that crested at nearly 40 feet last week is down to about 6 feet now.  The Llano River washed out a bridge in Kingsland as raging floodwaters threatened homes beyond what was flooded in the region by pounding downpours last week.  national Weather Service meterologist Matt Stalley says the Llano crested last week at 39.91 feet; the record remains 41.5 feet set in 1935.

More rain is expected in the area as the week begins again, but Stalley says the heavy downpours that left much of Texas soaking through the week are not expected.  The LLano as of Saturday is down to about 6 feet – a fast drop from it’s crest last week.   Stalley reminds us flash flood watches are likely through much of Central and South Central Texas to along the coast, where rivers and streams are expected to flood as the water moves downstream.
