Voter Registration Increases Ahead of Midterm Elections

McKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – Several areas across the United States are seeing an increase in voter registration compared to previous midterm elections and it is no different in North Texas.

Collin County Elections Administrator Bruce Sherbet says one of the indicators is comparing how many voter cards came in over the past 30 days compared to 2014.

“It increased from 4,800 to 12,748 which is a strong indicator that there’s a heightened interest in this election but also it speaks to the growth of this county which is pretty exponential,” Sherbet said.

Sherbet thinks of the key races causing the increase in interest is the senate race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke.

Final voter registration numbers will not be known until sometime next week.
