Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Pleads Guilty to Federal Corruption Charges; Resigns from City Council

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) –  Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges, in connection with the Dallas Public Schools scandal.

According documents filed this morning, Caraway is charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax evasion for allegedly accepting $450,000 in bribes, kickbacks from head of tech company that sold school bus cameras to DPS filings.

 

 

Caraway resigned from the City Council Thursday morning. The City released a statement that said a special election for the council vacancy will be held November 6, 2018. The City Council must order the special election by August 20, 2018. Candidate filing will end August 23, 2018 if the Council calls the election by August 20.
