DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The next legislative session is months away, but that did not stop Texas Republicans from releasing a list of things they want next year’s legislature to consider.
In its updated platform the Texas Republican Party specifically wants the 2019 state legislature to consider hundreds of items.
Among them; the state’s Republicans want to ban the use of gender changing hormones for kids under age 18, and they are standing by last year’s bathroom bill. The party also wants the legislature to pass a statute allowing certain teachers in each schools districts, to be allowed to carry a gun.
Other things on the list include; a requirement that all schools submit a security plan, banning abortion, eliminating daylight saving time, and removing sex-ed from public schools. The release comes just days before the Texas Democratic Convention in fort worth.
The next legislative session begins in January.
