It’s Not Soon To Buy Or Donate School Supplies

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Mayor Mike Rawlings is holding a “Fill the Backpack” drive to collect school supplies for the Mayor’s Back to School Fair. The fair provides 15,000 Dallas children in need with school supplies each year. Angela Shellene with the event said they are recruiting businesses, organizations and individuals to help with donations.”

“There are several high demand items that we currently aren’t providing that we want to add to the school supply packs this year. Having donations is the way to do that.”

Shellene says the last day to sign up for the drive is June 15th and that people can chose to participate in either the physical or online drive. For the online drive, participants purchase backpacks filled with the school supplies from Educational Products Inc. Shellene said backpacks purchased through EPI cost about $16 dollars and will be given to children at the Mayor’s Back to School Fair on August 3rd. The deadline to drop off physical donations is July 19th. Those interested in the physical drive will be provided with a school supply list.
