Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Testimony began Tuesday in the trial of an Uber driver accused of raping a passenger.

59-year old Talal Chammout is accused in the July 2015 sexual assault of a woman after he picked her up in Oak Lawn and drove her to her West Oak Cliff home.

The victim, who is going by the pseudonym Lindsey Cramer to protect her identity, testified Tuesday that she had been at a birthday party drinking with friends all day and called uber to get home because she was very drunk.

She says chammout followed her inside her home and refused to leave. she says, the next thing she remembers was coming to and realizing they were having sex.

Prosecutor Trey Stock said the woman “trusted him to get her home safely.” Instead, she says, he followed her into her home and knocked her unconscious. That’s why authorities say there’s no way the woman could have consented.

Talal’s defense said in opening statements the sex was consensual.
