McKinney Makes Pitch for Amazon’s Second Headquarters

McKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) — The City of McKinney is putting in a bid to become the home for Amazon’s second headquarters, or “HQ 2.”

The city released a five-minute video, which can be seen below, explaining why it is a prime location for Amazon, including words from Mayor George Fuller.

“McKinney is a community that’s been very deliberate, very strategic in our growth,” Fuller said in the video. “We identified who and where wanted to be long ago, and we’ve stuck to that.”

A variety of city leaders are featured in the video, in addition to members of the McKinney community.

The Jorbas family recently donated 100 acres of land, worth about $10 million, in the Honeycreek development to help lure Amazon. The city even released mock-ups of what Amazon could look like if it does choose McKinney and utilize the Honeycreek land.

Bids for the new headquarters are due Thursday. The company is expected to make a decision in early 2018.
