DALLAS (AP) – Dallas police say DNA results show several dogs seized after a woman was mauled and later died did not carry out the attack.
A Dallas police statement Monday said the case involving the death of 52-year-old Antoinette Brown will be closed due to lack of evidence.
Investigators say Brown was walking near a vacant lot when she was attacked May 2 by a pack of dogs running loose in South Dallas. She died a week later.
Animal control officers seized seven dogs from the neighborhood for testing. Police say the owner surrendered the animals as part of the investigation.
Test results announced Monday indicate DNA samples and other evidence did not link those dogs to the attack.
A Dallas police spokesman had no additional details on dogs.
