Rawlings Releases Statement on Orlando Shooting

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings offered his condolences to the victims of this weekend’s deadly shooting in Orlando, Florida.

Full statement from Rawlings:

We are grieving today for the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando. We should keep Mayor Buddy Dyer and all of the people of Orlando in our thoughts.

This act of terrorism is a tragic illustration of the legitimate safety fears that those in our LGBT community live with every day. That’s why our LGBT brothers and sisters need more than our prayers right now.

I have spoken with Chief Brown and he assures me the Dallas Police Department will be boosting manpower in our entertainment districts, including Oak Lawn, tonight. DPD will also be coordinating with other agencies, including the FBI, to ensure the safety of our citizens.

Nothing is more important than the safety of our residents. We will do everything we can to protect them, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.
